The inaugural Track N' Trail Cross Country Invitational was a chance for Cecil County cross country runners to test the mettle early in the season again stiff competition from all over the region. Bohemia Manor was tops for Cecil County in the Boy's Division with a fourth place finish and Perryville took seventh in the Girl's Division.
While Sherwood HS won the Boy's side, it was Tony Hayes from East Fairmount who had heads turning with a 15:40 time over the 3-mile course across the steeplechase course and through the woods at Fair Hill Natural Resources area. Overheard from the crowd, "You didn't think he drove all the way here from West Virginia to lose, did you?" Indeed. Quince Orchard took the Girl's Division and Urbana High School's Emily Mulhern clocked in at 18:45 to take individual honors.
For Cecil County, Kaylee Haberkam and Jordan Dodson, who both led their race early, finished fifth and seventh for Perryville HS. Ty Franks, from Bohemia Manor covered the course the fastest on the Boy's side for all Cecil County runners. Perryville's Eric Barton finished tenth.
